Pink Cars & American Girls!

01Aug10

Yesterday was round two of Ella’s birthday celebration!  It was her real birthday, and I wanted to make her feel super special.  The night before, Matt and I decorated her room while she was still asleep, so that she awoke to find her room filled with balloons and streamers.  I made her coffee cake for breakfast, and then we went outside, where she found this waiting for her…

Yes, we splurged!  Ella has never, ever really wanted anything specific for her birthdays or Christmas.  Every year, I ask her, and she always says, “I don’t know, surprise me.”  This year, however, she has been asking us for a power wheels car for months.  I knew it would get a lot of use, and they looked like so much fun that I just couldn’t resist.

We made sure we bought something with two seats, which of course means less fighting.  And, as you can tell from the above photo, it is apparently a natural instinct for males to get nervous while driving in the passenger seat with a female.  Justin figured out how to drive this car so quick, it was amazing!  He was doing 3 point turns and dodging other kids and toys in the road like he was a race car driver!  Every time he rides in the passenger seat, he’s screaming at Ella to “turn the wheel” or “look out”!  It is hilarious!  Last night, while he was having his own turn (because he has a very sweet sister), he pulled up next to Ella and asked her if she wanted to ride with him.  She replied, “no”, to which he said, “but I will drive slow”!  What a gentleman!

So cute!

One happy birthday girl!

After playing with her new car for a while, we went out for a girls afternoon!  Ella, her friend Hannah, Aunt Shayne and I went to see the Ramona and Beezus movie and out to lunch.  Then, it was back to the house for dinner, cake (#2) and ice cream!

Then, Ella opened up her favorite gift of all time (courtesy of my mom & some of Ella’s aunts and uncles)!

I have never seen Ella so excited about anything!  She loves her new car, but this one really was her favorite!  She went to bed last night saying, “I love my American Girl doll, I love her, I love her, I love her, I love her!”  I think it was a perfect birthday!
